Village of Republican City

 

The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Trustees was held on October 3, 2016, at 7:00 p.m. at the Fire Station with Trustees Eddy, Einspahr and Hammond present.  Clerk Waldo, Utility Supervisor Whetstine, Pat and Gary Barg, Zach Shriver and Ray Jones were also present. Posted notices in three public places within the village.  Notice of meeting and agenda was given to Trustees in advance. As required by law Chairman Eddy, pointed out the copy of the Opens Meeting Act posted on the wall for public viewing and called the meeting to order.  Proceedings shown were taken while convened meeting was open to the public.

 

Motion by Hammond, seconded by Einspahr, to approve the minutes of the last meeting as published.   Voting Aye:  Eddy, Einspahr and Hammond.  There were no votes against the motion. Absent:  Crawford and Orcutt.  Motion carried. 

 

Motion by Hammond, seconded by Einspahr to pay the following bills:

Voting Aye:  Eddy, Einspahr and Hammond.  There were no votes against the motion. Absent:  Crawford and Orcutt.  Motion carried.

Treasurer’s report was read and approved.

 

Motion by Einspahr, seconded by Hammond to pass Resolution 100316-1 which corrected the legal description of previously passed Resolution 090716-2.  Voting Aye:  Eddy, Einspahr and Hammond.  There were no votes against the motion. Absent:  Crawford and Orcutt.  Motion carried. 

 

No new information has been received regarding the shelter house/ RV park/ Playground.  Will take off agenda.

 

Gary Barg was present to discuss the dog incident that occurred between he and “Buster”, owned by Zach Shriver, at 240 Truman.  Dog approached Mr. Barg on alert and startled him.  The dog did not bite Mr. Barg.  Discussion was held regarding the definition of a dangerous dog and potentially dangerous dog.  The incident was recorded as a barking/chasing complaint and if another complaint is received within 30 days of the first incident, from a different household, further action will be taken.

 

Motion by Hammond, seconded by Einspahr to move the November 7, 2016 meeting to 5:30 pm due to a scheduling conflict.  Voting Aye:  Eddy, Einspahr and Hammond.  There were no votes against the motion. Absent:  Crawford and Orcutt.  Motion carried. 

 

Progress is being made at the ball field.  Waiting on Twin Valley’s for power.  Will be getting rock and sand for the field.

 

Ray Jones was present to discuss the slow internet service in town.  The more complains received by Frontier, the sooner action may be taken.

 

Motion by Hammond, seconded by Einspahr to adjourn at 7:32 p.m.

 

The next regular scheduled village board meeting will be held Monday, November 7, 2016 at 5:30 p.m. at the Fire Hall.  Meeting is open to the public and the public is encouraged to attend.
