Village of Republican City

 

The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Trustees was held on June 6, 2016, at 7:00 p.m. at the Fire Station with Trustees Eddy, Einspahr and Hammond present.  Clerk Waldo, Utility Supervisor Whetstine and Shirley Valentine were also present. Posted notices in three public places within the village.  Notice of meeting and agenda was given to Trustees in advance. As required by law Chairman Eddy, pointed out the copy of the Opens Meeting Act posted on the wall for public viewing and called the meeting to order.  Proceedings shown were taken while convened meeting was open to the public.

Motion by Hammond, seconded by Einspahr, to approve the minutes of the last meeting as published   Voting Aye:  Eddy, Einspahr and Hammond.  There were no votes against the motion. Absent:  Crawford and Orcutt.  Motion carried. 

Motion by Hammond, seconded by Einspahr to pay the following bills:

Voting Aye:  Eddy, Einspahr and Hammond.  There were no votes against the motion. Absent:  Crawford and Orcutt.  Motion carried.

Treasurer’s report was read and approved.

Discussion was held regarding 3 part street repair proposal received from Tri-State Paving.  Request received from another company to bid street repairs.  Motion by Hammond, seconded by Einspahr to ask Tri-State Paving to rebid parts 1 and 3 of original proposal, plus a portion of part 2. Voting Aye:  Eddy, Einspahr and Hammond.  There were no votes against the motion. Absent:  Crawford and Orcutt.  Motion carried.   Request will be made from second company to submit a similar proposal to what has been requested of Tri- State Paving.  Proposals will be reviewed at July meeting.

Motion by Hammond, seconded by Einspahr to approve building permit for 30 Norris. Voting Aye:  Eddy, Einspahr and Hammond.  There were no votes against the motion. Absent:  Crawford and Orcutt.  Motion carried. 

Motion by Einspahr, seconded by Hammond to approve building permit for 219 Truman Ave.  Voting Aye:  Eddy, Einspahr and Hammond.  There were no votes against the motion. Absent:  Crawford and Orcutt.  Motion carried. 

Cost Analysis has not been received from Miller and Associates regarding proposed RV Park and shelter house.  No further discussion.

Discussion was held regarding a request to purchase old fire hydrants.  Motion by Hammond, seconded by Einspahr, to sell older fire hydrants for $400.00 each and the newer fire hydrants for $150.00.  Voting Aye:  Eddy, Einspahr and Hammond.  There were no votes against the motion. Absent:  Crawford and Orcutt.  Motion carried. 

Motion by Einspahr, seconded by Hammond to move July4, 2016 meeting to July 11, 2016 at 6:30 pm. Voting Aye:  Eddy, Einspahr and Hammond.  There were no votes against the motion. Absent:  Crawford and Orcutt.  Motion carried. 

Letters will be sent to two property owners that had campers in use during Memorial Day weekend as this is not allowed by Ordinance.  Will consult with attorney as to measures that can be taken if property owners do not comply. 

Discussion was held regarding nuisance properties. 

Motion by Hammond, seconded by Einspahr to adjourn at 7:35 p.m.

The next regular scheduled village board meeting will be held Monday, July 11, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. at the Fire Hall.  Meeting is open to the public and the public is encouraged to attend.
