Village of Republican City

A special meeting of the Board of Trustees was held on February 8, 2016, at 7:00 p.m. at the Fire Station with Trustees Crawford, Eddy, Einspahr, Hammond and Orcutt present.  Clerk Waldo, Utility Supervisor Whetstine, Ron Latter, Mark Reed and Shirley Valentine were also present. Posted notices in three public places within the village.  Notice of meeting and agenda was given to Trustees in advance. As required by law Chairman Eddy, pointed out the copy of the Opens Meeting Act posted on the wall for public viewing and called the meeting to order.  Proceedings shown were taken while convened meeting was open to the public.

Bids from South Central Sanitation and Reed Disposal were reviewed.  Mark Reed and Ron Latter each spoke on their behalf and comments were heard from the public.  State law requires trash to be disposed of legally and  if residents do not have garbage service by the contracted company, then they are required to provide proof that they are disposing of their garbage legally.  Motion by Hammond, seconded by Crawford to accept the bid from South Central Sanitation.  Voting Aye:  Eddy, Crawford, Hammond, Orcutt and Einspahr.  There were not votes against the motion.  Motion carried.  The new contract with South Central Sanitation will begin April 1, 2016.

Discussion was held regarding mandatory trash service and billing for trash service by the village.  Further discussion will be held at the March 7, 2016 meeting.

Motion by Orcutt, seconded by Hammond to adjourn at 7:32 p.m.

The next regular scheduled village board meeting will be held Monday, March 7, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at the Fire Hall.  Meeting is open to the public and the public is encouraged to attend.
